Bark in the Park: A Night for Dogs, Community, and the People Behind the Scenes

Why We Were There
On September 2, Davidson Heating & Air had the opportunity to sponsor Bark in the Park with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers at Atrium Health Ballpark.
As we continue growing our presence in Kannapolis and the North Charlotte area, we want to do more than put our name on signs. We want to find ways to support the people and organizations already doing great work in the communities we serve.
Bark in the Park gave us a pretty great opportunity to do exactly that.

Supporting Project Pawz
The highlight of the night was presenting a $1,000 donation to Project Pawz, a local animal rescue dedicated to helping abused and neglected animals find better lives.
We also wanted to recognize someone whose work normally happens far away from the spotlight: Terrell Moore.
Terrell is one of the volunteers doing the behind-the-scenes work that makes animal rescue possible. He helps pick up strays. He builds fences. He cleans cages. He handles the kind of jobs that need to get done whether anyone is watching or not.
We were proud to recognize Terrell as our Unsung Hero at the ballpark.
There are people like Terrell throughout our communities who quietly make things better without expecting much recognition for it. Getting to put the spotlight on one of them was probably our favorite part of the night.

A Different Kind of HVAC Booth
Our Cannon Ballers sponsorship also came with a table at the ballpark.
There was just one problem: who wants to come to Bark in the Park and pick up a flyer about their air conditioner?
So we decided not to do that. Instead, we invited Mike from The Shoedio, a Charlotte-based custom artist and business, to join us and create custom dog collars that we raffled off for some very stylish pups.
Our job is normally keeping your house cool. For one night, we figured we would help keep your dog cool instead. Although, for the record, you should absolutely still call us when your AC stops working.

Recognizing the Davidson Heating & Air Team
The night also gave us an opportunity to recognize a group much closer to home: our employees.
North Carolina summers are not easy on HVAC equipment, and they are not particularly easy on HVAC technicians either. While most of us are trying to escape the hottest days of the year, our technicians are climbing into attics, working around hot equipment and spending long days outside getting people's air conditioning running again.
Our entire team worked incredibly hard this summer serving homeowners, businesses, schools and organizations throughout the communities we serve. Bark in the Park was a chance to bring some of them out to the ballpark, say thank you and recognize the work they do every day.

More Than a Sponsorship
We had a great night with the Cannon Ballers, but what mattered most to us was not having the Davidson Heating & Air name at the ballpark. It was using the opportunity to support a local rescue, recognize a volunteer who deserves some attention, showcase another local small business and celebrate our own employees.
Davidson Heating & Air has served North Carolina communities for more than four decades. As we grow into Kannapolis and the surrounding area, we want to continue earning our place in those communities the same way: by showing up, doing good work and supporting the people around us.
Thank you to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers for having us, to Project Pawz and its volunteers for the work they do, to Mike and The Shoedio for bringing some creativity to the ballpark, and especially to the Davidson Heating & Air team for another summer spent keeping our neighbors cool.
We had a blast. And judging by the number of dogs at the ballpark, they did too.
We want to keep earning our place in these communities the same way we always have: by showing up, doing good work and supporting the people around us.
